An extremely charming and collectable silver vinaigrette/pomander locket pendant c1890 - 1900, with beautiful guilloche enamel work all over the gently rounded surface. The lid depicts a fancy young gentleman with his walking staff, and the back an extremely pretty and finely painted flower scene complete with butterfly - this part has a beautiful pink-purple blush shimmering through the blue shade which is difficult to capture on film.

The very secure lid is edged with finely chased patterned silver and opens to reveal an ornate vinaigrette compartment, this has a little bit of fabric/cushioning behind to absorb a scent and can be taken out if preferred, to leave a deep and safe locket compartment for a memento or other useful small object.

The inside is gilded nicely, stamped with maker's marks to the inside of the lid and tested as solid silver of at least .900 grade. Very solid quality, feels nice and heavy in the palm.

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 21mm diameter. 11.4g in weight.

CONDITION: Very good, wearable antique condition, please view all close-up photos. There is a chip to the surface of the enamel on the right rear side, where a little bit of a reed or flower stem is missing, though this isn't very noticeable in wear. Couple of tiny marks above the figure on the lid, hardly visible in reality. Any display forms/chains are used for photography purposes only.
