These rather striking, long Victorian earrings c1870 are a great example of how 1800s jewellery can look so surprisingly bold and abstract! But the superb detail and hand-crafted charm quickly distinguishes them from modern jewellery.

These test as gold of approx 14K, which is in contrasting rosy/yellow colours.

Each set with three rose cut diamonds of varying size. The bottom circles are finely engraved with a laurel leaf pattern and the central strips with zig-zags, which contrast with the flashy polished abstract shapes above.

They have a great shine to the gold, a good presence in wear, and a good size, though not overwhelming (please refer to measurements below).

If desired, the drops can be detached easily from the top sections 'day to night' style for a more modest look.

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 2 1/8" total drop. 3.5 / 3.6g each in weight.

CONDITION: Good, wearable antique condition with several little foibles - a faint test mark to the plain gold on one earring front; slight wear to the engraved middle section on the other earring. Hand made and not exactly symmetrical, though quite close. The ear hooks fit in very securely to the catches at the front (inserted from the rear of the ear), but do take a look at the last photo of these as one of the catches in particular is a bit wide, if you have small ear holes you may find them fiddly to insert!
