This super-rare little early Victorian treasure c1840 combines three highly collectable attributes - it's a vinaigrette (pomander), it's set with an acrostic stone 'REGARD', and to the rear is a sculptural serpent rendered in lifelike 3D! You will not see another like this.

The purse-shaped (another collectible attribute!) pendant opens to reveal a secret vinaigrette compartment with beautiful chased floral cover - originally used for smelling salts, but also perfect as a locket to contain all manner of small treasures.

To the front is a tiny perfect bow and flowers, and an inverted rainbow paste acrostic spelling out the sentimental dedication - 'REGARD'.

The snake to the rear is coiled in an alluring fashion and etched with little scales all along his body. His tongue is curled in a loop, to allow a little charm to be added if desired!

Even the edges of the purse are etched in snakeskin fashion.

This is a very unique little gem from my personal collection which is extremely wearable, and will proudly grace any collection of antique snake jewellery, vinaigrettes, acrostics, and purses!

MEASUREMENTS: Just over 7/8" across the bottom of the purse. Approx 10g in weight.
