This early Victorian diamond ring c1840 - 50 is so pretty and full of spirit. Across the front, taking up a little less than half the 9K gold band, is a row of graduated rose cut diamonds. The facets are very glinty, and the diamonds range from quite clear through darker silvery grey shades as shown, which change depending on the lighting, giving them a mysterious shifting appearance. The diamonds have some inclusions and as you can see, there appear to be some age-related changes to the setting or foil behind them.

The stones sit largely flush with the setting, with some variability in their facet cutting and depth so that some face out a bit further than others. The ring is smooth and flat at the rear and extremely comfortable to wear, stacks beautifully with other bands. It is a dainty little ring with a feminine and enigmatic presence.

These early diamond bands are very hard to find!
