I'm not sure whether to talk about the beautiful chased and garnet-set head of this stunning Georgian ring (c1820 - 1830) first, or its unique band!

The gently domed, foiled garnet cabochon to the head has the most beautiful pinky glow-from-within and looks positively edible, almost like raspberry jam.

As you can see, the face and shoulders display an abundance of typically ornate early 1800s workmanship, with those deeply chased floral patterns, split shoulders and ribbed detailing - but it's the rear of the shank that makes this ring really unique, with two curved sides and central slightly convex circle, almost a little bow-tie shape. I've never seen one like this before.

To the rear of the face is a lovely, scrolling historical inscription of initials, possibly 'JFG'. Tests as higher carat gold ~14/15K.

MEASUREMENTS: 9mm north to south across the head, 2.9g in weight. Ring size approx UK O 1/2 / US 7 3/4 - this ring is NOT suitable for resizing unless by a very skilled craftsman capable of preserving that lovely, shaped band!

CONDITION: Excellent, wearable antique condition for its very great age of c200 years - please view all close-up detail photos. Any display boxes/chains shown are for photography purposes only.
