A dainty 1800s European silver bangle, enamelled in robin egg/turquoise blue on both sides, bearing the motto 'Dieu Vous Garde' (God Keep You), or possibly 'Bien (Good) Vous Garde' depending on how you interpret those lovely gothic letters! They are picked out in silver with little recessed dots to emphasise the lettering.

These don't come up very often - at least, not in good condition. This one does appear to have been worn often by someone who loved it, but who also thankfully took care not to chip the enamel (see condition report)!

The clasp and hinge are decorated with crosshatching patterns in the silver, and each functions as it should. The hinge is very smooth and the clasp is closes with a secure click, and needs a good firm press to open.

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 6 3/8" around the inside, in an oval shape, so not a large piece. 1/2" wide. 20.5g in weight. Please check measurements as close-up photography can exaggerate the size of jewellery items.

CONDITION: Good, wearable antique condition, no chips to the enamel, but numerous small/shallow surface scratches throughout, particularly on the inside (to the silver) - see all close-ups under the photographic lights. The superficial scratches on the outside/enamel are not obvious in wear.

Any boxes/chains shown are for display purposes only.
