This lovely mysterious ring is full of charm and energy, really something! Dating to the Victorian era c1870, the generous oval setting tests as solid 15K gold (no marks) of gorgeous mellow colour, with a beautiful and precise twisted wirework border to the edge.

This is a wonderful frame for the amethyst cabochon to the centre, which due to its pink foiling takes on various different hues depending on the lighting (and is very difficult to capture in a photograph!) - the natural light purple of the amethyst, to light fuschia pink with flashes of peach, and subtle lacy veining and patterning which gives it a nebula-like appearance - in my opinion this enhances it considerably and makes it a truly enigmatic and unique piece.

We believe the appearance of little inclusions inside, rather like moss agate, to be a result of foil patterning developed over the past hundred years rather than actual inclusions in the stone.

The band is rounded and slender, indicating probable conversion from a stick pin or similar, and has a slight twist pattern to the shoulders.

MEASUREMENTS: Face 17mm north to south. 2.8g in weight. Approx size UK O, US 7 3/4, suitable for careful resizing.

CONDITION: Excellent, clean antique condition - please view all close-up photos which show all the different characteristics of the stone/foil, if you prefer a perfectly clear stone with no intergalactic properties this is not the ring for you!
