An extremely fine, beautiful miniature late Georgian lyre pendant c1830, with perfectly tiny magnifying locket compartment to the rear. The mixed colour gold applied flowers and tiny rosettes to the front are typical of the Regency era and shortly afterwards. The applied red roses with their stems crossed and tied together symbolise binding love, and along with the turquoise, indicate that this was probably given as a love token or betrothal gift - perhaps to/from a musician or poet, due to the symbolism of the lyre.

Tests as 14/15K gold. The tiny hinged locket compartment to the rear with 'pool of light' magnifying effect can be easily opened by hand and closes very securely. Rotating integral bail loop to the top.

The wonderful subject, perfectly small scale and fineness of this early piece make it supremely collectable!
